Jai Prakash Narayan, i.e., was called the trinity of JP – Lalu Prasad Yadav, Nitish Kumar and Sushil Kumar Modi. Lalu stayed away from active politics after getting entangled in scams. Nitish Kumar has been the Chief Minister of Bihar for a long time. And, Sushil Kumar Modi stayed with both as well as away from both. Now Sushil Kumar Modi has permanently distanced himself from both. All three were together for nearly five decades. Lalu Prasad Yadav was once close to Bharatiya Janata Party and Sushil Kumar Modi’s role was considered to be in it. Sushil Modi was the reason why Chief Minister Nitish Kumar came closer to BJP every time. The special thing is that despite being away from Lalu for a long time, Sushil Modi remained in the leading attacking role. Similarly, when BJP remained separate from Nitish Kumar, Sushil Modi continued to command the attack on him. Meaning, whatever relationship he got in the last five decades, Sushil Modi fulfilled it very well. Today, everyone in politics is hurt by his demise, but its impact will be more on these two. In that too Nitish has the maximum. Because, he was always Nitish’s favorite deputy.
When Nitish took command, he was forced to change the government.
If you want to properly understand the relationships of the triumvirate of Lalu-Nitish-Sushil, there is no need to go back too far. Since 2005, Sushil Modi was like a shadow along with Nitish Kumar. When BJP put forward Narendra Modi as Prime Minister, Nitish Kumar distanced himself from BJP. This distance was created by some force and effect and after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, it continued in the 2015 Bihar Assembly elections also. BJP suffered a huge setback in this election. There was no savior in sight. Nitish Kumar was back with Lalu Prasad Yadav. For the first time, Tejashwi Yadav got the post of Deputy CM. Everything was going well. But, then Sushil Kumar Modi opened the file of Mitti-Mall scam in such a way that Nitish Kumar started doubting his decision. For almost 50 days, Sushil Modi ran such a campaign that Nitish Kumar’s doubt turned into belief and after rejecting the mandate for the Grand Alliance in 2015, he came back with BJP in 2017.
When Sushil was sent to Delhi, Nitish also moved away from BJP.
Then everything was going well and Nitish Kumar got the mandate with BJP in the 2020 assembly elections. After this mandate, BJP unexpectedly shocked Nitish Kumar. BJP did not make Sushil Kumar Modi its deputy CM. Sent him to Rajya Sabha. Since then it was believed that there would be a crisis of coordination. This is what happened, due to which Nitish Kumar once again turned to Lalu Prasad Yadav. He could not maintain the old format of relations with BJP. The Grand Alliance government was formed midway and then when the sound of Lok Sabha elections started, around his birthday, Sushil Kumar Modi started his efforts to bring back Nitish. In the posters of Sushil Kumar Modi’s birthday (January 5) in January 2024, he was described as the ‘troubleshooter of Bihar BJP’ and on January 28, Nitish Kumar again joined the BJP. That’s it, Sushil Kumar Modi did not return. And, now he has gone there – from where no one comes back.
